Come to a workshop with Jude and Meg Pokrass and try out some different ways to introduce humour into your fiction. Funny character observations and actions, irony, surreal moments, timing, pace and odd linguistic connections, all contribute to stories that make you laugh.We’ll introduce exercises and prompts, look at examples and you’ll have some fun writing.Suitable for beginners and experienced writers of both short and longer fiction.

Meg Pokrass is well known for her darkly comic short fiction. She is an extensively published writer of flash fiction with three collections in print, Bird Envy, Damn Sure Right and The Dog Looks Happy Upside Down. She is editor of The New Flash Fiction Review, curator of Flash Fiction Festivals, UK and runs very popular on-line courses on all aspects of short fiction. She is currently judge of the novella-in-flash award for the international bathflashfictionaward.com. One of Jude’s first published flash fictions, was a humorous piece which won an honorary mention in the Fish Flash Fiction prize in 2014 and appears in their anthology for that year. Two bizarre characters coming together over a lottery ticket. She introduces humour into many of her fictions. She can’t seem to help it.
