These two workshops with Alex, are for anyone interested in writing a memoir, or wants to in use their own life as material in a novel or short stories with plenty of writing exercises to trigger memories.  We  will also look at examples of different types of memoir.

If you are writing fiction, the exercises will give you plenty of material for those telling details that bring a work alive.  Just as in a novel, we enjoy a beginning, middle and end, a memoir needs a structure. In the first workshop, we will look at the different structures you can adopt to help shape your narrative.

Once you have chosen a structure, you can begin plotting your project so that you don’t get stuck in the middle. Guest Anna Schlesinger, will be on hand to answer questions about why she chose to use her experiences in Samoa to write a biographical novel, rather than a memoir.

In the second workshop, as well as sharing thoughts about ongoing work and doing more   creative writing exercises with prompts to jog your memory, we will look at various publishing options. Beginners and experienced writers welcome

Please note: We don’t give refunds but you are welcome to pass your place on to a friend
